This "Everyday Idioms" series is great for self-study at an intermediate level. The books include not idioms specifically, but chunks such as idioms, phrasal verbs, expressions, etc. It offers chunks, gives a couple of short, easy examples followed by little practice exercises and finally a story for each chapter. Easy on the eye and fun to use. My only criticism for Series 1 is that it is sorted alphabetically, so you get - in lesson 1 for example - a couple of, a long time ago, a lot of, a pair of, above all, according to, etc. all rolled into one
lesson, most of which are not related.
