The past simple tense: زمن الماضى البسيط It also called(preterite)

Usage

We use the past simple tense to talk about past actions. We can use many of English tenses to talk to express the meaning of the past t, but the past simple  tense is the one that we use it so often. 
يستخدم زمن الماضى البسيط للتعبير عن حدث بدء وانتهى فى الماضى. فنضيف للفعل
ed للتعبير عن الماضى
 ازا كان الفعل منتظم او قياسى, اما ازا كان الفعل غير منتظم او غير قياسى فانه يحفظ ولا يقاس عليه. نتستخم فى الللغه الانجليزيه العديد من الازمنه للتعبير عن الماضى ولاكن استخدام زمن الماضى البسيط هو الشائع بين غيره من الازمنه.
Form

We for the past simple tense by adding ed to the regular verbs, eg arrive-arrived   play-played
and we should memories the irregular verbs to help us form the correct when we use the past tense. Eg, go-went .


Examples

Regular verbs:

Ahmed went to cinema last week.
He completed his work yesterday.
He did his last night.
It rained yesterday.

Irregular verbs:

He went to Cairo yesterday.
She was born in 1987.

Negative:                  نفى زمن الماضى البسيط 

How to make a negative sentence in the simple past tense in English?
We use the word ( did not) to make the negative form in English.
Ex:  He worked hard yesterday.       He didn't  ( did not) work hard yesterday

Notice

We remove the (ed) from the verb when we form a question.

Forming a question           كيفيه صياغه سؤال

We use did and didn't when we want to make or form a question.

 We use (did) in a question and (didn't) in answer.

Did he go to school yesterday?

Did he do his work last night?

He didn't go to school yesterday.

He didn't do his work last night.
